The Gray Lady

On Behalf of | May 4, 2016 | Discrimination |

The Gray Lady isn’t so gray or such a lady. The New York Times is facing a class action lawsuit alleging sex, race, and age discrimination. Several older, Black, and female employees are suing the newspaper alleging that:

“black, female, and older employees are victims of ‘discriminatory barriers to equal opportunity advancement.’ It also alleges that the Times has an ideal customer – young, white and wealthy – and an ideal employee – young, white, and unencumbered with a family – to connect with such a customer. ‘In furtherance of these discriminatory goals, the Times has created a workplace rife with disparities,’ the complaint states.”

The lawsuit also alleges that female employees are subjected to sex stereotypes by management. You can read the entire complaint at the Boston Globe.

Often, employment discrimination is multi-faceted, encompassing race, sex, national origin, age, or disability in various configurations. If you’re facing these complex issues at work, Nacht Law can help.
