What workplace sexual harassment looks like in 2016?

Isn't sexual harassment a thing of the past? Think again. Thirty percent of the charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in 2014 related to sex discrimination. A good portion of these alleged sexual harassment or retaliatory discharge.

Michigan Supreme Court to Consider Disability Discrimination Case

NachtLaw sued Notre Dame Prep, a private Catholic parochial school, on behalf of a learning disabled girl who was denied admission to its high school. The parents brought forth strong evidence that the denial was based on the girl's disability, including the statement, ""Bettina doesn't fit our school profile. With a learning disability, she should attend [a school] where they take [students with] autism and [other] learning disabilities." The school responded by asserting that Michigan's Persons With Disabilities Civil Rights Act does not apply to them, and that they have a First Amendment right of "ecclesiastical privilege" that forbids the court from inquiring into a student admission matter - even if there is no evidence that ecclesiastical issues were considered by the school, as was the case here.

NachtLaw Challenges Internet Anonymity

NachtLaw, by Nicholas Roumel, represents Dr. Fazlul Sarkar, a prominent cancer researcher who was subject to a vicious smear campaign, by anonymous commenters on an anonymously hosted web site. With false and defamatory statements, including document forgery, these anonymous posters not only cost the researcher a promising new job offer, but caused him to lose his tenure with his present University position. On behalf of the researcher, NachtLaw sued "John and Jane Doe(s)" and subpoenaed the website to learn the identity of these posters.
