ADP Shows Private-Sector Hiring Cooled to 156,000 in April. In spite of the Wall Street Journal headline, hiring and employment remain strong in Ohio and Michigan. The robust auto industry, low gas prices and low interest rates continue to fuel hiring. Our firm is seeing that many businesses are raising wages, and many employers are aggressive about enforcing non-compete agreements when losing employees to competitors.
During the long years of the recession, hiring was a buyer’s market for employers. For some time now, that has not been true.
While housing prices are up, we still haven’t seen the construction and building industry approach its former glory. Hopefully, the new home sector will pick up, driving employment in manufacturers and sellers of household goods.
In the meantime, we advise all to review your non-competes carefully and be strategic about your business and your career.
